Get ready to skim, splash and show off your skills at one of the most epic spring event of the season. This season we will be skimming on Show Off next to the MAIN LODGE. That’s right. We are bringing the skim home in full view of the main deck.

Contestants will ride The Magic up and skim down towards the lodge.

Registration

Space is limited. A random drawing will be held from all registrants, and selected qualifiers will be notified by April 12.

Only 1 entry per person! Duplicates will be disqualified.

Safety First
Helmets highly encouraged
No pyrotechnics, open flames, fireworks, or smoke bombs
No large props or anything that could endanger others
You must be able to ski or snowboard safely in your costume

Equipment & Conduct

Lift Access
A valid Mt. Rose lift ticket or season pass is required to participate.

Skis and snowboards only — no sleds, tubes, ski bikes, or other contraptions
Skim one at a time — no group runs
Skiers: drop your poles before entering the pond
No inverts, nudity, or headfirst diving
No outside alcohol or glass allowed

Frequently asked questions

How old do I have to be to participate?
You must be 18 years or older to participate.

Will there be registration on-site?
No walk-up registrations will be available. All entries will need to register online before the event and check in before 10:30 am the day of the Pond Skim at the info counter at the Main Lodge.

How do I register?
Register online here. All entries will be entered into a random lottery. Lottery winners will be announced and notified on April 12th

When does registration close?
Registration closes April 12th

Can I ski with a friend or in a group?
No — Only One Skimmer at a time. But feel free to match outfits with your crew!

If I can’t make it, can I have someone else go in my place?
No – Sorry, there are no substitutions.

How many runs (try’s) do I get?
Just one shot. Put some skim in the game!

Do I have to wear a costume?
Absolutely. No costume = no skim. Get into the game and have a ball!

Can I use a sled or ski bike?
No. Skis, Mono-Skis or Snowboards only.

What time does it start?
Contestants should be ready to compete by 12:30. Full details will be given out at morning registration.

Participant check-in at Main Lodge – 9:00am–10:30am. If you are participating, you must check in by 10:30 am and receive your bib number to participate. *If you arrive after 10:30 am you will lose your spot (No Pond Run)

Will there be judges?
Yes! Our judging panel will be scoring skimmers based on the following criteria – This is VERY Serious 🙂
