In an effort to create a unified culture, all Mt. Rose managers are required to learn how to ski and snowboard.
The 1994-95 season shined as the 30th anniversary for Mt. Rose and this landmark year produced some of the most significant facility improvements in the resort’s history; a 2.5 million dollar remodel of the Main Lodge which included a monster outdoor BBQ deck and a 300% expansion of the indoor dining area.
In 1997 a snowmaking gun tapped into the water line off Ponderosa Trail to cover the break-over allowing Season Passholders to ski Pondo at Christmas.
In ’98, over 550 inches of snow blanketed Mt. Rose that season putting an end to the alarming eight-year drought and setting a new record for the most snow in the history of Mt. Rose. Top-to-bottom snow-making was introduced to the resort giving the mountain the insurance policy it needed to have consistent early season openings.
Mt. Rose becomes the primary permit holder with US Forest Service and leaseholder with Washoe County eventually allowing the 2004 Chutes opening.
