INTRO to SKI RACING

2 Day (Saturday & Sunday) | All-Day Program
Ages 8 to 11 (as of December 1st
)

This program is designed to provide an introduction to ski racing so that athletes can start developing their competitive potential. There will be a strong focus on skills development for future athletic success. Training will include technical and tactical training in slalom and giant slalom skills using free ski drills, stubby and full gates. Athletes will have the opportunity, based on progress, to compete initially in Tahoe League Races* and potentially in Far West races. Our coaches for this program all have a background in skI race coaching and development. Coaching support will be provided at races.

This is the ideal program for the athlete who wishes to develop their technical and tactical skills to compete in races; to develop their techniques to safely ski the whole mountain; and to build life-long skills. It also provides a pathway to more advanced competitive skiing for athletes who have previously participated in Ski Team programs.

The ideal candidate for this program is an athlete who can comfortably ski advanced terrain; has mastered all necessary intermediate skiing skills on a variety of challenging terrain and snow conditions and wishes to progress to competitive skiing.

*For those choosing to compete, the athlete is responsible for individual fees, including but not limited to Lift Tickets / Registration / etc…

Ski Team programs do NOT include a season pass.

Hard ear (full coverage as opposed to soft ear) helmets as listed in the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Alpine Competition regulations will be required for races and are recommended for all athletes in the program.

Program Meets: On Snow at Winters Creek Lodge
