RIPPERS

Morning Only Program
9:00am to 11:30am
Ages 6 to 9 years old (as of Dec. 31)
Ratio: 3 athletes to 1 coach

The Rippers ski program is designed for intermediate athletes looking for season long coaching in a fun and safe environment. Athletes in this program will work on developing their skiing skills through a fun and challenging weekly skills-based curriculum, learning skiing techniques to increase their confidence in skiing. 

The ideal candidate for this program is an athlete who can comfortably ski beginner (GREEN / easier ) and intermediate (BLUE / more difficult) trails 

Ski Team programs do NOT include a season pass.

FAMILY SKI DAYS

Program Meets: On Snow at Winters Creek Lodge

TRAINING TO FOCUS ON THE FOLLOWING

• Skiing skills-based progressions matched up to appropriate skiing terrain 
• Steering (redirecting) the skis simultaneously 
• Introduction and understanding of basic anatomy use in skiing 
• Linked turns 
• Use of ski poles

THE LIGHTER SIDE

• Peer-to-peer challenge courses
• Parent to athlete challenges
• Skills Quest Challenge in the Race Arena

RIPPER PROGRAM PREREQUISITES

• Get their skis on with minimal assistance and use ski poles
• With their skis on, stand and move around with minimal falling
• Ski in a gliding (small) wedge and turn and stop with minimal falls
• Load/unload with minimal assistance on All Lifts
• Be able to verbally communicate effectively with the coaches, without parental assistance

Shredders

One Day Programs (Saturday or Sunday | All-Day)
Ages 7-14 years old (as of Dec. 31)

Ratio: 4 athletes to 1 coach 

The Shredders program is designed for the athlete who is ready to take their intermediate skiing skills and abilities to the next level. Shredder athletes will develop their skiing skills through fun and challenging weekly skills-based curriculum designed to improve technique and build confidence on variable terrain and snow conditions. While progressing their skiing abilities and skills, athletes will learn on-mountain etiquette, build camaraderie and cultivate an overall lifelong love for the sport. 

The ideal candidate for this program is an athlete who can comfortably and proficiently ski intermediate trails (BLUE/ more difficult) and some of the advanced runs (BLACK / most difficult) 

Ski Team programs do NOT include a season pass.

Program Meets: On Snow at Winters Creek Lodge

TRAINING TO FOCUS ON THE FOLLOWING SKILL DEVELOPMENT

• Skiing skills-based progressions matched up to appropriate skiing terrain 
• Enhance the steering (redirecting) of skis simultaneously 
• Flex the boot to engage skis 
• Functional use of ski poles 
• Introduction of turn shape, short, medium and large on intermediate terrain 
• Understanding and use of anatomy in skiing 
• Effective use of skiing skills [balance, edge, pressure, steering (redirecting)
• Introduction to gates 
• Introduction to skiing off-piste (bumps, not groomed)

THE LIGHTER SIDE 

The program will also involve specialty days designed to enhance the Ski Team experience and emphasize the fun of the sport 

• Peer-to-peer challenge course 
• Parent to athlete challenges 
• Skills Quest Challenge in the Race Arena 

SHREDDER PROGRAM PREREQUISITES

• Click into their skis and put their helmet and goggles on with minimal or no assistance
• Know how to ski with poles
• With their skis on, be able to stand and move around without falling
• Maintain an open parallel stance while skiing, a slight wedge is OK
• Load/Unload all chairlifts by themselves… or NO assistance from the attendant
• Ability to verbally communicate effectively with the coaches, without parental assistance (talk with an adult coach)

ALL MOUNTAIN

One Day Program (Saturday or Sunday | All-Day)
Ages 9-16 years old (as of Dec. 31)
Ratio: 5 athletes to 1 coach

The All Mountain program focuses on all-mountain skills on groomed and off-piste terrain. This is a non-racing program. The ideal candidate for this program is an athlete who has mastered the majority of the necessary skiing skills-based progressions on a variety of changing terrain and snow conditions and is interested in advancing their all-mountain skiing skills, 

The ideal candidate for this program is an athlete who can comfortably and proficiently ski on the advanced runs (BLACK / most difficult) 

Ski Team programs do NOT include a season pass.

• Flex the boot to engage skis 
• Ski in an off-piste fall line 
• Functional use of ski poles 
• Extension and flexion of legs 
• Upper and lower body separation 
• Introduction of turn shape, short, medium and large on intermediate terrain 
• Understanding and use of anatomy in skiing 
• Effective use of skiing skills [balance, edge, pressure, steering (redirecting)] 
• Skiing on (groomed) and off-piste (bumps) 
• Ski comfortably all terrain at Mt Rose (no Chutes) 
• Introduction to Terrain Park, sliding boxes, skiing switch on green runs and landing small jumps

The program will also involve specialty days designed to enhance the Ski Team experience and emphasize the fun of the sport 

• Peer-to-peer challenge course
• Ski with competitive Freeride athletes 

ALL MOUNTAIN PREREQUISITES

Your child must be able to perform all the skills / tasks below to be eligible to register for the program: 

• Skis in an open parallel stance, turn both directions and stop in a hockey stop 
• Proficiently and comfortably skis on blue and black groomed runs
