It has been a busy off-season! Our teams are hard at work making sure the mountain is in ship shape for the winter season! Off-season projects include regular maintenance and some exciting new improvements.
A deck is being added to the snow bar area just off of the unload of the Lakeview Express; Lodgepole Café is being renovated, a heated ramp is being added to the entry of the Main Lodge, as well as expanding snowmaking infrastructure on the Slide Bowl and the Bunker Trail!
Winter can’t come soon enough!

Meet Cassie: Mountain Operations Administrative Assistant + Ski Patrol Dispatcher
Cassie has been a part of the Mt. Rose family for 17 seasons. Her journey began in Rosebuds, and three years later transitioned into dispatching.
After 14 years of being the Ski Patrol Dispatcher you could say she was the perfect for the job! With her sharp communication skills and composure under pressure, Cassie fearlessly juggles multiple tasks, ensuring every call is answered and every situation handled with utmost care.
Those who know Cassie are instantly drawn to her warmth and infectious laughter. She not only epitomizes the qualities of a top-notch dispatcher but also radiates positivity wherever she goes. She is an integral part of the safety and operations here at Mt. Rose and has recently been promoted to Mountain Operations Administrative Assistant.
“I love this mountain and the family I’ve gained working here since I was 16 is invaluable. The plans we have for the future and the opportunity to be a part of it all in my new position is exciting.”

Teamwork makes easy clean-work.
Today we took a break from our usual work day to meet in the Tahoe Meadows for a little cleanup hike. Our #tahoebluecrew team collected over a hundred pounds of sledding debris and trash in just a few hours.
The meadow is a quick 5-minute ride up and over the Mt. Rose summit and is a trendy place for sledding and snow play in the winter. Unfortunately, with the heavy use in the winter, a fair amount of trash gets left behind. These small pieces of plastic and waste are more than just an eyesore but, left alone, will continue to pollute the waters that feed into Lake Tahoe.
If you are trekking out to the meadows or Lake Tahoe this weekend to beat the heat, keep a close eye out for those tiny little bits of trash and fill your pockets if you can. Then take a moment and enjoy the views. It takes a small effort from ALL of us to make big impacts that will keep these beautiful mountain areas clean and healthy for future generations.

Introducing Anna Nason, our dedicated Sustainability Coordinator at Mt. Rose! In just one year, Anna has made remarkable strides in leading our sustainability efforts and achieving significant milestones.
This year alone she has implemented:
• The National Ski Area Association’s (NSAA) Sustainable Slopes program and has earned the NSAA’s Supply Chain Sustainability Certification.
• Spearheaded an employee carpool program which prevented 14 tons of CO2 emissions.
• Received a NSAA Sustainable Slopes grant, to implement a compost program for onsite food waste.
• She got all in-office mountain operations certified as a Nevada Green Business.
• Looking ahead, next season Mt. Rose will introduce a $1 For Tahoe option when purchasing tickets. Every dollar contributed will be directed to the Tahoe Fund, supporting vital environmental initiatives in the region.
Anna`s fearless and kind leadership inspires the entire Mt. Rose staff, as we work together towards a more sustainable future for everyone!

This week The Ski California Lift Maintenance and Operations Education (LMOE) Conference took place at Palisades Tahoe, which brings together lift operations and lift maintenance teams from across the Sierra.
Our very own Tiana Friend received The Ski California Lift Maintenance and Operations Education (LMOE) award. Tiana is an integral member of the lift operations department and has been working at Mt. Rose for six seasons.
She originally started as a Lift Operator and has risen the ranks to Lift Operations Supervisor. Never shy to lend a hand or pick up a shovel, Tiana’s exceptional technical expertise and leadership make her an invaluable member of the Mt. Rose Team.
