Support
the Reno
to Rim Trail
Project
Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe has joined
with the Sierra Front Recreation Coalition, the Tahoe Rim Trail
Association, the USFS Carson Ranger District, and Washoe County
to help develop the Reno to Rim Trail Project. This project includes
over 25 miles of trail systems that will connect Reno to the Tahoe
Rim Trail near Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe. Trail heads will be located at
Hunter Creek, Thomas Creek, and the Mt. Rose Highway. Your $5.00
contribution will assist in the completion of this project that
will benefit all of us who love outdoor recreation and treasure
our beautiful Sierra Front region. Mt. Rose has also pledged to
contribute an additional $5,000.00 per year to help with the development
of this project.
Update
since last year
The majority of the
trail network has
been finalized with additional routes currently being scouted
off the HunterCreek and Thomas Creek Trails. An Environmental
Assessment (EA) is under way in coordination with the USFS Carson
Ranger District, and preliminary field surveys and research have
already begun. A draft EA report is estimated to be completed
by October of 2008 for public review. Once the EA is approved,
construction of the trail system could begin as early as September
of 2009. Donations will help pay for the required EA process and
trail work construction.
