Opening Christmas 2009.
Mt.
Rose will take a major step forward this year with the addition of the
new Slide Lodge. Replacing the former structure will be a modern facility
with a contemporary style that will be unique in Tahoe. BSA Architects
of San Francisco have designed the building based on a style
becoming popular in Europe which brings the valley
architecture into the mountains. The glass façade of the primarily
steel & glass lodge will bring
the mountain into the space, creating a warm and
special feel for what has become coined
the “locals” side of Mt. Rose.
Located on the south eastern most edge of the Slide Bowl base area (the
former upper parking site), the positioning of the
new lodge will lend itself to a more conducive guest
area providing improved traffic flow from the slopes,
to the lodge, as well as to the loading zone for
the Blazing Zephyr lift. Not only will a modern kitchen
bring signature food service to the lodge, but the
cozy bar will relax it’s patrons and inspire
lofty conversations with a panoramic view of the
Washoe Valley 4,000 feet below. Complimenting the
beautiful indoor experience will be an impressive
outdoor deck providing expansive seating within an
inviting atmosphere. This patio will not only serve
as a welcome ski break on those perfect Tahoe days
as well as the ideal setting for events,
parties, and weddings.
Panattoni Construction has been selected as the contractor. Incorporated
in the design are smart technologies making use of
passive solar mechanisms to maximize the efficiency
of the building.
